Hawaiian-born reggae and country singer, Maoli, packed Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre as part of his “Last Sip of Summer Tour.”

The venue served as the meeting point of the Pacific Islander community of Metro Vancouver, who showed up early to make sure they got the best location to enjoy the show. Some of them were wearing cowboy attire, and others had flags representing their country.

As soon as the band members started to take the stage, the fans lost their composure. Maoli opened his set with “In A Bar,” sharing a beer while performing, and it was like you could hear only one voice as all the fans sang along.

He continued with his performance, transitioning from country to reggae, a combination that works like wonders. There were always interactions, not just from him but the band members as well, the fans, showing their great islander’s spirits.

Other highlights from his set list included “A Place in the Sun,” “Last Sip of Summer,” “Lonely Won’t Leave Me Alone,” “Better off on a Beach,” and one of the songs that better describes him, “Country Reggae.”

After performing “Mercy,” Maoli left the stage and left the band to perform a guitar battle, with classics like “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “Thunderstruck,” “Beat It,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” “Buffalo Soldier,” and “Red Red Wine.” After that, Maoli returned to the stage to close his set with a cover of The Bellamy Brothers’ “If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body.”

All that was not enough as the fans vigorously asked for one more, and Maoli and the band returned to close with “Shoot Down” and “Every Night Every Morning.”
