Karmacoda Premiere Their Chill Track “Practically Impossible to Please” (feat. Megan Slankard)

It’s a monumental year for Karmacoda, and judging by their new single “Practically Impossible to Please,” they are still at the top of their game. It’s been a whole 25 years since the trip-hop formed. Led by producer Brett Crockett, aka B., and multi-instrumentalist Eric Matsuno, the duo has maintained a remarkably consistent approach that has seen them consistently release some high-level musical offerings. This new single is another quality track from the duo, as they continue to create magic, linking up with different female vocalists. This time around, Karmacoda is joined by singer Megan Slankard for “Practically Impossible to Please.”

Slankard fits in perfectly with her soulful, strong, and groovy vocal approach. Slankard is very well regarded as a vocalist, primarily thanks to her work with her own band, The Wreckage. Co-written by Slankard and Crockett, they successfully pay homage to the 1990s and 2000s soul pop and R&B, but with well-assembled modern production.

Karmacoda’s Brett Crockett told us:

“I wanted to write a modern R&B, soul, electronica-tinged song with an old school vibe. We reached out to our friend vocalist and musician Megan Slankard, who loved the music. Megan wrote the lyrics and sang the vocal lead, and did a fantastic emotional job. The song is about, as the title implies, someone in a troublesome relationship and states that she is ‘practically impossible to please.’”

“Practically Impossible to Please” will be formally released tomorrow, via Sola Musa Music. It’s another high achievement for Karmacoda, a group that has maintained a no-fear approach to their career ever since the beginning. They purposely seek out new methods of making music and new collaborations that keep them outside of a comfort zone.

Their discography has become expansive to say the least, with many different musical styles incorporated into their sound along the way. They’ve tried different things with different releases, mixing together electronica, chill-hop, trip-hop, R&B, rock, and dream pop. Crockett and Matsuno have attempted to stay as open-minded as they can, and it’s an approach that really has guided them to where they find themselves now. They are still an act with something to say, and easily accessible to fans of any era of popular music
