Joe Bowden Announces Jazz Fusion Album ‘Music Is Life’

Nova Scotia-born, Toronto-based drummer Joe Bowden is set to release his sixth album, Music Is Life, on Friday, August 22, 2025. This electrifying new project is a celebration of jazz fusion at its finest, solidifying Bowden’s reputation as one of Canada’s most versatile and expressive drummers.
A dynamic mix of groove, melody, and intricate interplay, Music Is Life showcases Bowden’s fully realized artistic voice alongside an international ‘A’ team of collaborators. The album features Warren Wolf (vibraphone), Manuel Valera (piano and keys), Rich Brown (electric bass), Mike Downes (acoustic bass), and special guest vocalist Robert Ball. The result is a collection of compositions that balance deep musicianship with personal storytelling.
Bowden, who was recently honoured with the 2023 East Coast Music Awards’ Bucky Adams Memorial Award and the 2018 African Nova Scotian Music Awards’ Pioneer Award, comments:
“Music has always been there for me—through the good and the bad. This album is about that journey.”
Arranged primarily by Manuel Valera, Music Is Life is poised to be an instant jazz fusion classic—an album that grooves, reflects, and elevates.
