Garrett Anthony Debuts Haunting New Single “Eden”
Singer-songwriter Garrett Anthony Rice has released his new single “Eden” from his upcoming studio album ‘Equinox.’
Garrett Anthony Rice steps boldly forward with “Eden,” the opening track from his upcoming album Equinox. Following the bold statement of “Property,” Rice’s latest single deepens the intrigue around his double album, promising fans a record that defies easy classification and embraces the spirit of discovery.
With “Eden,” Rice expands his sonic canvas, blending the earthy grit of Southern delta blues with a raw, rap-inflected edge. Atmospheric gospel elements add a haunting resonance, giving the track a weight that feels both personal and universal. Influenced in part by The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft’s rich musical legacy, Rice folds subtle nods to Ashcroft’s sounds and American musical influences into the track’s tapestry. It’s music that feels like a man wandering alone across an open plain; contemplative, resilient, and unafraid to embrace the vastness around him.
The song’s chord progressions challenge expectations, drawing the listener into a dreamy, swirling middle section that evokes a sense of wonder. There’s a moody Americana quality here that threads through Rice’s work, but “Eden” stands out for its subtlety and cinematic flair. It’s a testament to Rice’s ability to fuse tradition and innovation, paying homage to the English and American musical traditions that have shaped him.
“Eden” is the latest glimpse into Equinox, an album that aims to challenge expectations and expand Rice’s creative reach. Recorded across Ireland and the UK in 2024, the 18-track double album is set to showcase Rice’s evolution as both a songwriter and a performer, building on the foundation he laid with his debut album under the alias (i) CONSULT.
“Property” gave listeners a taste of Rice’s fearless approach to songwriting, challenging tired narratives and shining a light on the misunderstood. With “Eden,” Rice dives deeper into new sonic territory, staying true to his own voice and vision. The track underscores his dedication to carving out a meaningful space for himself in today’s music scene, where genuine artistry often cuts through the noise.
