Tulsa-based indie-rock singer-songwriter Casii Stephan releases her new single, “King in America,” featuring Damion Shade.

Produced by Chad Copelin, “King in America” carries on the grand tradition of protest songs in America, voicing disapproval of what she views as the dictatorial program of the present administration.

Stephan explains, “I’m mad. I was raised to believe in God’s divine plan for America. That the monarchy was never meant for us. And now… they want a monarchy.  They want to threaten my trans friends’ lives and make them unwelcome in Oklahoma. I guess it’s time to remember who we are. The home of the brave and the land of the free.

Originally from Minnesota, Stephan began writing songs at the age of 16. In 2014, she relocated to Tulsa with the intention of no longer pursuing a career in music. Fortunately, a friend persuaded her to keep making music.

Now signed to TRO Essex, Stephan has toured regionally and internationally and performed at SXSW, NYC’s A2IM, and the virtual Sundance Film Festival.
