Cage Warriors 191: Sparks Fly as MMA Returns to the BEC Arena in Manchester [Photos]
Cage Warriors returned to the BEC Arena in Manchester, and sparks flew in and out of the cage. We captured the battles; check them out!
Cage Warriors (official website here) returned to the BEC Arena in Manchester for a fight card which, ahead of the night, already had given fight fans their fair share of drama following an altercation between Alessandro Giordano’s coach and his opponent, Liam Gittens, at the weigh-in. The subsequent life ban for his coach saw the Italian pull out of the fight less than 24 hours before the main event.
A quick shuffle of the card meant fans got 14 fights and, thankfully, still plenty more bang for their buck. The amateur card saw Sheldon Ryan despatch his opponent Brad Camps before Christian Soda and Damon Donald went the distance, with the result going in Soda’s favour. Elsewhere on the amateur card, there were decision wins for Fran Breen, George Smith and Joe Fields, while Ryan Campbell overcame Davide Scarano early in the third round for the win.
The Pro Card always throws up a good bunch of contests, with a few surprising results this time. An unintentional foul ended Connor Wilson’s fight early on, while Cage Warriors favourites Teddy Stringer and Adam Cullen both failed to beat their opponents in somewhat surprising results. Elsewhere, there were great wins for Shay Ingram and Omiel Brown, while the co-main event saw Michael Pagani go to war for the win with another CW favourite, Tim Wilde, while the main event saw him take the interim lightweight title in his battle with another favourite of the cage, James Power.
Our photography, Graham Finney Photography, was cage-side in Manchester, and you can check out the photos and results below:
