Baileigh Jane Opens Up About Family and Forgiveness on “We Change”

After being featured on OnesToWatch last month for their Pride release “Better,” queer artist Baileigh Jane returns today with their powerful new single, “We Change.”

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Baileigh shares:

“When we exhaust all our resources, and we feel our peace is next in line, we have to have the courage to acknowledge that reality. Sometimes things just don’t work too, and that’s okay. While this song could be about any relationship that needs ending, I was inspired to write this by my relationship with my mom, whom I haven’t spoken to in 5 years.”

“We Change” follows a string of releases this year, including the premiere of “Follow” on Out Loud Radio in May and the V13 premiere of “nonissue” in April. Today’s release continues to solidify Baileigh Jane’s position as an authentic storyteller and rising voice in indie pop.

Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, and now based in Brooklyn, New York, Baileigh’s sound carries a coastal twang woven with pop, R&B, jazz, and funk. Beyond their own music, they are a dedicated community builder, booking and hosting queer music showcases across NYC under their label Conduit Media, as well as co-operating the queer cannabis social club Dank Dykes.

Baileigh Jane’s career is a testament to their deep roots in both music and community. They have released 15 tracks under projects such as Conduit and Community Sugar, with six songs from their Only Human EP (2021) self-published across major sync libraries including MTV, E!TV, PBS, USA, TLC, OWN, and Netflix. The EP also reached over 80 college radio stations nationwide.

With “We Change,” Baileigh offers a poignant reflection on acceptance, courage, and letting go through their signature indiepop lens.
