Zabriskie Releases New EP ‘All Things Become Light’

Switzerland based band Zabriskie just released their new EP, All Things Become Light. Made up of five tracks, the EP shows the group settling into a sound they’ve been chasing for years—a mix of dreamy shoegaze and soft, spacey dreampop. Frontman Alex Herter says: “I believe with this set of five songs we really found our voice, our sound.”

The EP opens with “Just For Now”, a chilled-out but upbeat track that blends warm guitar tones with a floaty vocal approach. It’s the kind of song a listener can get lost in. Right in the middle is “Changes”, the lead single released earlier this year. With its echoey vocals and emotional pull, it dives into the weird space between growth and confusion—but ends with a sense of hope. Lyrics like “Feelings / Like the wind / They come and go” and “Can we travel / To the stars” hit on the idea of change and trying to find peace in it all.

Zabriskie has been around in some form since the ’90s, but things really came together when drummer Andy Hofstetter joined the group about a decade ago. Since then, they’ve honed their live show and refined their sound. This EP, produced with Slade Templeton at Influx Studios, brings all that work to the surface.

The EP comes to a close with “Diamonds”, a smooth, vibey track that leaves you drifting. Alex Herter says, “[This EP] is where we were heading to for a long time.” It seems they have found their direction.
