Track By Track: Verb T x Outstraight Records Dive into Collaboration Album ‘Dual Oydssey’

Born from an accidental layover and fueled by raw creative chemistry, Dual Odyssey is a genre-bending collaboration between UK rap luminary Verb T and Dublin’s fiery Outstraight Records collective. What started as an impromptu studio session during a storm-delayed flight quickly spiraled into a full-blown album—twelve tracks deep with punchy lyricism, hazy vibes, and effortless chemistry. Out now on Outstraight Records, Verb T x Outstraight Records collaboration is a cross-border odyssey through classic boom-bap, stoned-out soul, and bar-heavy camaraderie.

To celebrate, Verb T and the entire Outstraight crew are bringing the heat to Camden Assembly on 27th June, for a one-night-only launch party that promises high-energy performances, exclusive previews, and gritty realness in one of London’s most iconic intimate venues. With support from UK underground mainstay Micall Parknsun, it’s a lineup that speaks to authenticity and decades of hip-hop legacy.

We go inside the making of Dual Odyssey with a special track-by-track guided by Verb T himself—telling the stories behind late-night sessions, Garda uniforms, edible mishaps, and that unforgettable hat walk. Let’s dive in.

1. Creative Freedom

“This is track that I set off. The name ‘Creative Freedom’ came just from me hearing the beat and from a feeling, as if I didn’t even need to try, same with the flows and bars, they just came to me. I think the tempo and mood make it the perfect opener for the album, which was always producer No Venom’s vision for the track. Beano, Conkan and Don Kobz kept the energy super high. This track is also the opener for our live shows too.”

2. Who?

“This track was conceived and recorded between the hours of 2am and 3:30am. I had flown into Dublin and headed straight to the studio to link with the crew. By 2am me, Panda and No Venom were the last ones left. No Venom made the beat on the spot while me and Panda wrote. You can hear NV telling me I have a swig of vodka left at the start of the song – I’m not a big drinker at all but that was my fuel to keep going and record. The song asks three questions, who are you? Who do you think you are? And are they the same person? We also had a lot of fun filming this video, one of the scenes Josh (Mulholland, director) had me dressed in an old Garda uniform. I had some choice words thrown at me but passers by for that one.”

3. Accelerate

“This song started as another jam session. I wrote my verse as No Venom was making the beat and then Kobz added his. In a second session, we revisited the track and recorded the back-and-forth bars at the end of the song. What’s cool is 10 years ago, Kobz jumped up on an open mic session I hosted in Dublin so to come full circle like that was dope.”

4. Topsy Turvy

“This was the track that started it all. I had asked Aaron (head of Outstraight Records) if I could get in the studio before a show I had in Dublin. When I heard the music these guys were making, I was massively inspired. If not for a cancelled flight the next day, this may have been a standalone single; it wasn’t. I guess the main theme of this track would be life’s impermanence and how any situation can change real quick.”

5. Spliffin

“A good old stoner song! Producer Hikii made the beat and had the vision for this one. Graham is stoned a lot but never really looks stoned at all, it’s pretty impressive. When we filmed the video, we really did hotbox that car and I was as high as I’ve ever been aside from some edible mishaps. Graham’s verse to me is like a stoner’s wonderful daydream and mine is like a lightweight stoner’s slapstick adventures – I think the balance is great.”

6. Visions

“Written by me, Panda and Beano, this one is a sci-fi inspired, visions of the apocalypse type number, with some other worldly, alternate reality type stuff, over a moody banger from No Venom.”

7. Contrast

“The balance of light and dark, contrast helps with definition. This is one of my personal favourite beats on the project. I put Graham and Beano up there with any rapper from anywhere – this one is very bar heavy.”

8. Kursed

“Collectively, this is everyone’s favourite track, I’d say. It’s one I wrote super-fast after catching a vibe off what the guys were laying down – every verse is killer. I remember sitting in St. Stephen’s Green feeling wounded the day after a gig and we were looking for somewhere to shoot a one take video of this song. We saw a group of women dressed up in bright outfits with crazy headwear going on a “hat walk”. We asked if we could film alongside them and random as it was, it was perfect.”

9. Winds Of Change

“Another one that I set off. The idea of the title is about the type of change that is unavoidable but it’s also positive, like an evolution and if you’re perceptive enough, you can hear and feel it coming. Both Kobz and Conkan gave very dope takes on the idea.”

10. Dual Odyssey

“This was recorded on my second trip to visit the guys. I landed in Dublin and came straight to the studio; this was the first beat playing. I think this is maybe the only time when every single person was in the room at the same time, and it was a bit too hectic haha but also a real good vibe.”

11. Mad Moths

“This was originally a track for No Venom’s solo album which he had wanted to get me and Graham featured on – we did the track together during the Dual Odyssey sessions so it felt like a natural fit for the album. I say in my verse ‘I had to ask Scott (No Venom) what a mad moth was’ which is factual.”

12. Say My Name

“This track was first conceived by me, No Venom and Panda during the same all-night session where we made Who? We worked on this track over 2 other sessions and got everyone involved. The original nearly had me singing the Destiny’s Child hook from their track of the same name – we liked how it sounded but it didn’t end up making the cut. It’s an up-tempo high-energy track which felt perfect as the album closer.”
