Multifaceted hip-hop artist Roderick Porter recently released his melodic, moody single “Balance,” alongside a stunning video, featuring up-and-coming R&B singer Phabo via Warner Music Canada. The track has quickly become a fan favourite, and the video has caught the eyes of cinephiles with dreamlike shots and the incredible technical production of the stop motion transitions of Porter and Phabo throughout the video. To keep the momentum going, Porter continues to release new music, and today shares the brooding new track “Fact of The Matter.”

“Fact of the Matter” continues to show Porter push the boundaries of his production and sound, while still delivering strong and honest lyrics. With “Fact of the Matter,” Porter digs into the reality of not being able to move on with lyrics like “But I can’t replace the feeling of you.” Sing-rapping with his signature vocals layered over a smooth beat and melody, this makes for a stand-out track from the artist.

“Fact of the Matter” joins his latest body of work, leaning into Porter’s internal monologues and his struggles of dealing with imperfectionism. This theme has been a constant on his latest releases, including “Du$k,” “Not Again,” “Phases,” and “Balance.” An ever-evolving artist, Remixd Magazine recently acknowledged, “Porter has continuously built a following by blurring the lines between rap, emo, and alt-pop. ‘Balance’ finds him leaning deeper into that emotional gray area.
