Public Enemy Drop Surprise Album ‘Black Sky Over the Projects: Apartment 2025’
Ahead of extensive touring this Summer and Autumn, hip-hop icons Public Enemy have dropped a surprise album for fans.

Hip-hop legends Public Enemy stunned fans with the surprise release of a brand-new album, Black Sky Over the Projects: Apartment 2025, available now on Bandcamp. The 12-track LP is being offered with a “pay-what-you-want” model for the first 72 hours as a tribute to the group’s longtime supporters.
The album’s arrival coincides with Public Enemy’s SOLD-OUT show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, marking a historic moment in their decades-long career. Following the London date, the group will hit the road for a summer of high-profile performances, including a series of European stadium shows supporting Guns N’ Roses, and a string of U.S. and Canadian festival appearances extending through October.
Speaking about the album, Chuck D said:
“This album is a give back to all of our fans with gratitude and appreciation. We see and appreciate you.”
While Flavor Flav added:
“We’re bringing our beats to the world on this tour and with this album. So if you can’t get yourself to the stadiums and the festivals, then these new tracks are for you to get down to at home. Pay whatcha want for the next 72 hours.”
This latest project builds on a legacy that includes landmark albums like It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Fear of a Black Planet, and Apocalypse 91… The Enemy Strikes Black, as well as the group’s 2020 release What You Gonna Do When The Grid Goes Down?
