PLAYY. Launches Social Music Network for Independent Artists
UK music company PLAYY. (formerly THE PLAYGROUND) has introduced introduce PLAYY. Music, a brand new social music platform.
Recognized UK music company PLAYY. (formerly THE PLAYGROUND) recognized for supporting internationally acclaimed artists, including Ed Sheeran, Novo Amor, FKJ, and many others, is thrilled to introduce PLAYY. Music, a social music platform designed to revolutionize the music industry by launching the first real social music network dedicated to independent artists looking to make a living out of music.
The platform which was first conceptualized by Director, Warren Morris, more than 18 years ago during the advent of MySpace, provides and empowers independent artists with a comprehensive suite of tools and services to take charge of their music careers from a single gateway rather than having to navigate multiple sites to manage and monetize their creative endeavours. From music sales and streaming to licensing, samples, ticketing, music jobs, bookings, and fundraising.
For decades, the music industry has been controlled by middlemen – record labels, booking agents, festivals, and media platforms – who decided which artists got seen and heard. If you didn’t pass through their filters, you didn’t make it. The artist was chosen, the stage was given. This system left many artists with little control and even less compensation. Most of the money flowed to the top of the chain, while most creators, the ones actually making the music, got what was left.
But times have changed. The traditional gatekeepers are losing their grip. With the rise of blockchain and new digital tools, there’s finally a chance to shift the balance. PLAYY. Music is built for this moment – a pillar of autonomy in a new era where creators take control. It’s not about some utopian dream; it’s about using real technology to build a fairer, more transparent system where artists have more say, earn more directly, and connect with fans on their own terms.
The creators need to take the reins of the narrative, monetization and experience. The value is in building a community, offering exclusive content, personalizing the journey of the fans. Being an artist today means being a living ecosystem – one with a clear voice, a strong presence, and a purpose that resonates.
From the director, Warren Morris:
“Building PLAYY. Music has been a deeply personal and challenging journey. Seeing firsthand the hurdles artists face due to limited resources and industry monopolies fueled this project. It shouldn’t be this difficult for musicians to share their work and make a living from it. Initially, I spent years strategizing and seeking funding, but eventually, we grew The Playground enough to develop the platform ourselves. Creating a tech platform of this scale seemed nearly impossible. However, once I took the lead on design and assembled the right development team, we made it happen. This has been the most demanding endeavour I’ve ever undertaken, and now, after nearly two decades, we’re finally ready to launch.”
