Opeth Share “§1” Performance Video Ahead of Extensive World Tour
Ahead of an extensive touring schedule, prog metal giants Opeth have dropped the performance video for “§1.”
Swedish progressive metal giants Opeth have unveiled an electrifying new band performance video for their track “§1,” taken from their latest album The Last Will And Testament, released on November 22, 2024, through Moderbolaget / Reigning Phoenix Music.
The band is currently on a global tour in support of the album, with the video release coinciding with their latest tour dates, which kick off at the legendary Sweden Rock Festival. Åkerfeldt commented on the video’s creation, explaining the band’s decision to avoid the often overused “lyric video” or “visualizer” formats, which he described as “content”, a term he finds uninspiring.
Instead, the band opted for a raw, straightforward band performance video, shot during their latest European tour in Birmingham, UK.
Speaking about the video, Åkerfeldt shared:
“I think it’s a good video. It looks as good as it can when five middle-aged geezers are miming along to a track. The video was filmed quickly, with the band eager to get to a local curry house post-filming, with special thanks to Ash Pears and ASH TV for their professionalism.”
Following their summer festival run, which includes an appearance at Download Festival next week, Opeth will embark on the second European leg of ‘The Last Will And Testament’ tour before heading to Australia, New Zealand, and Japan later this year.
Check out the band’s full tour dates on Opeth’s Official Website.
