Nico Zaca Releases New Single “Nothing Something”

Washington D.C. singer-songwriter Nico Zaca just released “Nothing Something.” It’s his third release of the year as he works towards a full length album release in late 2025. The song is a soft and elegant ballad, but the lyrics speak to the hard emotions that some have living in a broken civilization.

Musically the song has a beautiful sonic feel. The acoustic instrumentation creates a canvas for Nico’s honest, character-rich vocals to deliver the lyrics. Musically, it’s an easy listen, but the lyrics carry a heavy message. “Sift through the remains / A civilization gone wrong / The temple goes crumbling down / The ego of an empire.” Nico says “The song is about how heartbreaking it can be to live in this country and the unrequited love dynamic so many Americans experience at the hands of the government.”

At one point in the song the lyrics “If you felt nothing then you should’ve said something” repeat as if it’s a broken thought he couldn’t shake. These lyrics depict an emotionally drained person trying to keep what little they have left by just pretending everything is ok. Nico brings together themes of feeling lost in America, as if the country doesn’t care. It’s a personal battle cry but political at the same time.

“Nothing Something” showcases Nico Zaca’s musical abilities as well as his storytelling and willingness to share his emotions with the audience. The song is a real and honest look at how he views the state of the world today.
