Michele Ducci Premieres Video for AI-Inspired New Single “Why You?”

Michele Ducci will release his new single “Why You?” on June 26th via Monotreme Records. The track is the second part of Film for Songs: The Great Book of Nature, an animated short film created in collaboration with Letizia Mandolesi.

“Why You?” follows Ducci’s recent release “Why Do I Wake Up Every Morning?” and continues the narrative of an AI-powered animated book titled The Great Book of Nature, which tells the story of a printed book by the same name. The film is set in a fictional society where music is banned and independent thought is controlled through a simplified language known as “Bla Bla Bla.”

Musically, “Why You?” is a fairground-style waltz with an uplifting chorus, which contrasts with the darker themes of the film. The video incorporates the Brechtian concept of the disengagement effect, encouraging the viewer to engage intellectually rather than emotionally with the story.

Speaking about AI, Ducci says:

“The thing that interests me about AI is that at the bottom of what should preserve remembrances, and memories seems to be a memory without remembrance and remembrance without the memory that precedes each remembered memory.”

Ducci performs all vocals and instrumentation on the track, with Mandolesi contributing backing vocals and synths. The video was produced and animated by both artists, and recorded at Ondeleone Studio.
