Luke Marzec has never shied away from blending deep social commentary with his soulful, genre-defying sound. His latest track, “Space To Be Free,” marks his return to the UK music scene.

A slow-burning anthem, the song confronts economic inequality, digital alienation, and the loss of simple joys in a world dominated by capitalism. With “Space To Be Free,” Marzec has crafted a deeply personal yet universally resonant piece that feels more urgent than ever.

Drawing inspiration from the classic sounds of soul, R&B, and the unifying messages of Bob Marley, Marzec fuses rich analog textures with soulful vocals and experimental production. The result is a track that feels both nostalgic and modern, reminiscent of the old school yet perfectly tuned to today’s challenges.

As Marzec reflects on the growing disparities in wealth and power, he emphasizes how much harder it is for the everyday person to simply exist in this fast-paced, tech-driven society.

“I started writing this song years ago, back when Theresa May was still in office. Even then, I was feeling how distant real power had become. And now, with the obscene wealth gaps we’re seeing between landlords, monarchs, tech giants, and the rest of us, the idea of simply having space to breathe, to be free, feels more radical than ever. We work more than ever, we own less, and the space to create, reflect, and connect has become a luxury, but these are the things that make life meaningful, and they shouldn’t be reserved for the few. This song is about reclaiming that.”

After bursting onto the scene with his 2018 EP Chances, he went on to collaborate with the likes of Maverick Sabre, VC Pines, and Benjamin Francis Leftwich. Now with over 15 million streams on Spotify, Marzec is poised to make another massive impact with “Space To Be Free.”

The track follows his previous singles “Growing Up With You” and “I Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind,” the latter of which saw him described as “The UK’s answer to Teddy Swims.”

Luke has two shows lined-up for August including his Something Good Out of Nothing album launch.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
