At last night’s 13th Annual CMAOntario Awards in Hamilton, ON, acclaimed Canadian country artist Jason McCoy was honoured with the inaugural “Real McCoy Award,” a new award created to recognize an individual who truly represents the spirit of Ontario’s country music community.
A beloved figure in the music industry, Jason has hosted every CMAOntario Awards Show since 2014, guiding the event with his signature mix of unbridled enthusiasm and humour. From unforgettable performances to milestone award moments, Jason has played a pivotal role in spotlighting the best of Ontario’s country music scene.
McCoy states:
“It has been an honour to host the CMAOntario Awards for the past twelve years. Having a front-row seat to the growth of this incredible community has been nothing short of a privilege. Witnessing the evolution of Ontario’s country music scene and continuing to play a role in its story is something I’ll always be grateful for. Here’s to the artists, the industry, and the fans who make this community so dynamic, resilient, and inspiring.”
With a remarkable 35-year career, Jason McCoy has proven himself a true master of reinvention. Hailing from the small town of Minesing, ON, he set out at just 19 to follow his own path to stardom, forging a path that has led to both national and international acclaim. His achievements include winning the “CMA Global Artist Award,” two “CCMA Male Artist of the Year Awards,” and being inducted into the CCMA Hall of Fame.
As the creator and frontman of The Road Hammers, the best-selling band in Canadian country music history, Jason led the group to unprecedented success, earning a Canadian Platinum-certified album, three CCMA Group of the Year Awards, and a JUNO Award.
An all-around entertainer, Jason has expanded his talents across the media, from hosting the nationally syndicated Sounds Canadian radio show (2007–2010) to stepping in front of the camera as host of CMT’s Smashtown, Pet Heroes (2010–2011), and Jason McCoy Eats America. Today, he continues to connect with audiences as co-host of the morning show on Pure Country 106 in Orillia, ON.
