Jake & Shelby Share Sprightly Single “You Don’t Know”
Nashville singer-songwriter duo Jake & Shelby have released their latest single “You Don’t Know,” along with its accompanying music video.
Nashville-based singer-songwriter duo Jake & Shelby released the sprightly new single, “You Don’t Know,” which channels the lively mix of feelings that stem from having a new crush with coy lyricism and propulsive percussion. Radiating youthful exuberance, “You Don’t Know” is the perfect soundtrack for a summer fling.
Jake & Shelby share:
“‘You Don’t Know’ is about something we’ve all had… A crush. When we were writing this song, we were thinking about how we feel so awkward at times around our crush and how it can be so consuming. It feels like all you can do is think about that person. But the funny part is that they don’t even know. For production, we typically start with a guitar idea, but for this track, we built it around synths and drums before blending in our signature acoustic sound – it was really exciting and fun to make something more pop-leaning!”
“You Don’t Know” follows the release of the vibrant bop “Loophole,” which wrestles with the emotional walls and hesitation to fully trust again while featuring soaring melodies and catchy hooks.
The young singer-songwriter duo emerged in early 2022, fresh-faced with a mesmerizing pop sound and heartfelt lyrics that quickly gained a devoted fan base, including notable figures in entertainment such as Michael Bublé, Gracie Abrams, and the Kardashians. As Jake & Shelby prepare for a new project, they are expanding their musical style, which is a showcase in emotive indie rock and earworm pop melody, crunchy guitars, haunting piano, and vocal harmony with Jake’s powerful harmonic abilities melding with Shelby’s jazz-tinged vocals. “Loophole” was the duo’s first new release of 2025 following last year’s singles “Control” and “Chasing Ghosts,” which emphasize their relatable songwriting.
What started as a few simple social posts of acoustic duets has led to a global following for Jake & Shelby with millions of streams and over a million followers on socials to date. Acclaimed artists, including Gracie Abrams, have sung praises on social media. Michael Bublé dueted with them via social media and invited them to sing with him backstage before a show at Bridgestone Arena. Even Kim Kardashian asked them to send a special birthday song to her sister, Khloé.
All these celebrity endorsements could go to a young group’s head, but not Jake & Shelby, who remained focused on their songwriting, putting in the work, and not missing any steps on their way to nascent pop stardom.
