I Hate Computers Release Debut Single & Video “You and I”
Toronto-based indie electronic trio I Hate Computers have released their debut single and video with “You and I.”
Toronto-based indie electronic trio I Hate Computers delivers a compelling debut single and video with “You and I,” a raw, atmospheric track that blends moody synths, layered guitars, and emotionally charged vocals. The song creates a soundscape where human vulnerability collides with digital dissonance—melancholic, immersive, and unfiltered.
Lyrically confessional, “You and I” explores fractured identity and misunderstood connection, unfolding with the aching refrain “Don’t want to let it go.” It’s a meditation on being seen only in fragments, on the tension between perception and reality, and on the quiet chaos of emotional complexity.
The single is the first release from the band’s upcoming EP Die For You, out September 12th—a collection the group describes as a reflection on disconnection, digital disillusionment, and the messy beauty of being human in a world of machines.
The accompanying music video features a solitary astronaut, a powerful visual metaphor for the isolation and emotional distance we can feel, even within our most intimate relationships. Set against a vast and surreal landscape, the video mirrors the song’s exploration of disconnection in a world where appearances rarely match reality.
I Hate Computers is Aaron Christie (vocals, guitar, synth, bass), Jeff Boulton (drums/percussion, synth, vocals), and Steve Davis (vocals, guitar, keys, bass). The trio also records under their indie folk alter-ego Before The Flood—a project that showcases their more organic, acoustic-driven songwriting, providing a stark and thoughtful contrast to the synth-heavy, emotionally digital world of I Hate Computers.
