Like time itself, “Time Marches On” is delivered with inescapable urgency as Juliette Tworsey uses her voice as a sharp-edged weapon.

FireBug, the noir rock band from Joshua Tree, California, releases their new single/music video, “Time Marches On,” a song exploring and capturing the inexorable passage of time.

The band’s sound merges elements of rock, blues, folk, electronica, soul, and retro psychedelia into music that summons up suggestions of Jefferson Airplane, while Tworsey’s voice is vaguely reminiscent of Grace Slick – powerful, wonderfully nuanced, and prickling with raw, edgy textures.

Made up of Juliette Tworsey (vocals, Wurlitzer) and Jules Shapiro (lead guitar, rhythm guitar), on “Time Marches On,” the pair are accompanied by Jordan Lawlor (bass, Prophet 6), and Robert Columbus (drums).

FireBug has performed at SXSW, CMJ, and NXNE, as well as the Sonisphere Festival Knebworth and London’s iconic Dublin Castle. Their songMoment of Joy” will be featured in Apple TV+’s new series Smoke, directed by Emmy Award-winner Dennis Lehand. Smoke premieres on June 27.

Teeter-tottering keyboards open “Time Marches On,” followed by the entry of Tworsey’s haunting vocals, at once potently wistful yet intense. Her phrasing conjures up the sibylline inflections of Stevie Nicks but remains uniquely her own. As the melody escalates, it takes on heavy lysergic flavors, infusing the tune with the inevitable feeling of time’s advance.

Like time itself, “Time Marches On” is delivered with inescapable urgency as Juliette Tworsey uses her voice as a sharp-edged weapon.
