Canadian Country Stars Found Skysong Records

JUNO Award-winning country rockers, Jason McCoy and Clayton Bellamy of The Road Hammers, platinum-selling indie artist Dan Davidson, and Calgary-based music executive and philanthropist Craig Senyk are proud to announce the launch of Skysong Records—a boutique artist-founded label built on the belief that music is at its best when driven by collaboration, creativity and artists.

Co-Founder Clayton Bellamy states:

With a collaborative model that puts musicians first, the label is set to become a home for bold new voices in Canada and beyond.

Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame inductee and Co-Founder Jason McCoy comments:

McCoy’s deep commitment to the country music community was recently recognized at the 13th Annual CMAOntario Awards in Hamilton, ON, where he received the inaugural “Real McCoy Award,” sponsored by Slaight Music. The award was created to recognize an individual who truly represents the spirit of Ontario’s country music community.

Distributed worldwide by The Orchard, Skysong will make its official debut with “Buckle Rubbin’,” the effortlessly hooky new single from Dan Davidson, which is set for release on July 7th. It’s a fitting first chapter— led by an indie artist who’s carved his own path, who is now helping build a platform for others to do the same.

The song idea came to Dan via a passing comment from Clayton Bellamy; the phrase “buckle rubbin’” stuck with him and sparked the idea for a song that just “had to be” written. The result is a cheeky, steamy country anthem that captures the flirtation and heat of a late-night romantic connection.

With award-winning careers, global tours, platinum records, and entrepreneurial vision, the team behind Skysong Records is channelling their collective experience into lifting the next generation of talent. Skysong is a catalyst for creativity, a place where artist development is a priority, and authenticity is at the forefront.
