Caamp Brings Folk to Boston’s MGM Music Hall [Photos]
Caamp delivered a heartfelt, sold-out show in Boston last week, blending indie-folk charm and fan favourites in a dimly lit performance.
Last week’s Caamp show at Boston’s MGM Music Hall on June 15th was a heartfelt, rootsy blend of indie‑folk and midwestern melancholy: opening with a punchy “Millions” from their new Copper Changes Color album, the Ohio trio delivered a dynamic setlist spanning old favorites like “Lavender Girl,” “Ohio’s Ugly,” and “By & By,” deeper cuts and new highlights like the tour‑debut of “Used to This,” all wrapped in warm amber lighting and vintage‑studio staging.
As a fan of their music, I can say their talent is conspicuous. However, the poor lighting and minimal interaction with the crowd made the band feel far away. That authentic connection you can only experience at a live show was never made. Chit-chat and conversations were happening throughout the show, making it hard to hear the talented vocals. I certainly will be catching Caamp again in the future, but hopefully in a new crowd with better conditions.
