Boston Calling Day Three Triumphantly Wraps Up 2025 [Photos]
Dave Matthews Band, Tom Morello, Public Enemy, and Vampire Weekend wrapped up Boston Calling 2025 with a high-energy, unforgettable finale.
Boston Calling Music Festival 2025 came to an electrifying close on Sunday, May 25th, offering a diverse mix of performances that captivated festivalgoers until the very end. The day’s lineup was a testament to the festival’s eclectic range, with everything from politically charged rock to indie anthems, providing a fitting finale to an already unforgettable weekend.
Headlining the evening, Dave Matthews Band delivered a powerful two-hour set that had the crowd singing along to classics like “Crash Into Me” and “Ants Marching.” Known for their improvisational style, the band’s performance was marked by extended jams and rich, layered soundscapes that transported listeners into their musical world. A standout moment came when they launched into a fiery rendition of “All Along the Watchtower,” which seamlessly segued into “Stairway to Heaven.” It was an unexpected, yet magical, moment that showcased the band’s versatility, leaving fans in awe of their musicianship and ability to keep the crowd engaged throughout.
Earlier in the day, Tom Morello, the iconic guitarist of Rage Against the Machine, brought his political energy to the stage, using his set as a platform to address social issues. His performance was a call to action, rallying the crowd with his searing guitar work and impassioned words about activism and resistance. The energy was palpable, and Morello’s performance was a reminder of the power of music to inspire change.
Public Enemy followed up Morello’s politically charged set with Chuck D and Flavor Flav leading a raucous performance that blended iconic tracks like “Fight the Power” with powerful messages of activism. The duo’s legendary chemistry and unwavering commitment to social justice created an electric atmosphere, as the crowd sang along to the anthem-like choruses and absorbed the important messages they conveyed. It was a moment that captured the spirit of the day, music as a platform for both celebration and reflection.
Vampire Weekend brought a refreshing contrast to the day’s heavier themes, delivering a lively and infectious indie rock set that had the crowd dancing in the rain. Their blend of catchy melodies and intelligent lyrics was a crowd favourite, offering a perfect soundtrack to the final hours of the festival. Hits like “A-Punk” and “This Life” had fans singing along with abandon, as the band’s joyful performance provided an upbeat and carefree vibe that balanced the intensity of the political performances earlier in the day.
Despite a few technical hiccups, including some audio issues during Remi Wolf’s set that temporarily interrupted the flow, the festival’s new rotating stage design proved to be a success. The stage allowed for smoother transitions between acts, cutting down on downtime and maintaining the festival’s fast-paced rhythm. The crowd moved fluidly between stages, and the overall flow of the event felt improved compared to previous years.
The festival’s layout, which included the elimination of the Red Stage and relocation of the VIP area, also contributed to a more comfortable experience for attendees. The changes helped reduce congestion and improve access to food, rest areas, and merchandise, making the festival feel less crowded and more enjoyable for everyone.
As the final notes rang out through the Harvard Athletic Complex, attendees reflected on a weekend filled with incredible performances, new discoveries, and a sense of community that only a live festival can provide. From the rain-soaked energy of Day One to the nostalgia of Day Two, the closing day encapsulated everything Boston Calling represents—diversity, inclusivity, and the unifying power of live music. As fans trickled out of the gates, already talking about next year’s lineup, it was clear that Boston Calling 2025 had set the bar high for festivals to come.
The anticipation for next year’s event is already building, and Boston Calling continues to solidify itself as a must-attend festival for music lovers of all kinds.
