Dream-pop/shoegaze trio bloom effect announce their upcoming six-song EP, oscilón, out September 19th, 2025, via cult Vancouver label Kingfisher Bluez. A swirling, cinematic body of work, oscilón is described by the band as “a sonic vessel for cosmic, euphoric love.”

Ahead of the full release, the band will share two singles: “itero” – out July 25 and “second sight” – out August 22nd.

The EP was recorded live at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver and mixed/mastered by Stu McKillop, who captured the band’s raw, immersive sound. All music and lyrics are written by bloom effect, with EP artwork by a northern boy.

The band says:

“Most of these songs start with a feeling, a riff, a pulse, a shimmer, and then we follow it together. It’s like tuning into a frequency only we can hear.”

Formed by Argentine-born Jula Lafit (vocals/bass), UK-born Craig Weighman (guitar), and drummer Tom Rappa, bloom effect creates fuzz-washed soundscapes shaped by cultural hybridity and emotional depth. Influenced by Cocteau Twins, Alvvays, and Ringo Deathstarr, they blend English and Spanish lyrics into reverb-drenched, cathartic dream-pop.

With festival performances across Canada –including JUNOFest, Westward, and Desert Daze North– and support slots for Zoon and Ladytron, bloom effect has built a reputation for immersive live shows.

Their debut live session, Once More With Feeling, and 2025 EP portents drew praise from DKFM and KEXP. Now, with oscilón, the band cement their status as “the sound of now.” In September 2025, bloom effect will embark on their first East Coast tour across Ontario and Quebec, bringing oscilón to new audiences across the country.
