Moonrise,” the latest single from Portland, Oregon-based Baeal, forges an inarticulate, introspective cry of loneliness and a heartbreaking search for human connection.

The brainchild of Robert Arnold, Baeal’s genesis occurred decades ago when Arnold put his musical aspirations on the back burner because of family obligations. At the end of the protracted interlude, Baeal emerged, fulfilling Arnold’s dream of creating music.

The Future Is Here, Baeal’s debut album, was released in 2023, followed by a series of singles: “A Fall From Grace,” “HOUSE OF BAEAL,” “Take The Guns,” “Run Away,” and “Shine,” all released in 2024.

Opening on pulsating, atmospheric tones, “Moonrise” flows into a dreamy, gliding melody made up of intricate, consummately layered synths riding a hypnotic, syncopated beat. A gorgeously graceful, female voice imbues the lyrics with melancholic hues, revealing the aching sensation of being trapped in the entangling thoughts of her mind as she pleads for the respite of intimacy with another person.

Eerie, shadowy vocal harmonies infuse the tune with plaintive surfaces, adding to the wistful, yearning, threnodic feel of the harmonics.

Immersed in a sense of isolation and dark electronic pop flavors, “Moonrise” unveils a haunting tale of intense, raw emotions.
