There is a incredible buzz around Birmingham as genre-smashing Twenty One Pilots arrived in the city. Hardcore fans of the alternative rock duo turned out in force as the superstars arrived with their Clancy Tour with scenes like this playing out across the UK.

Lucky enough to land the opening slot on this tour were New Zealand alt-pop outfit Balu Brigada. As fans who’d been hanging around all day battled for a prime spot at the stage, it meant that the New Zealand pop act had a captive audience and they grabbed the opportunity with both hands. A huge opportunity that nearly every act would give their right arm form, Balu Brigada know how important this chance is and they make sure they give their all leaving nothing left as they depart the stage.

Even before Balu Brigada performed their set, there was an air of anticipation hanging in the air as this fanbase waited for the moment when the BP Pulse Live Arena rocked to the sounds of the headliners. Looking around the arena, there are face-painted fans as far as you can see and, as their heroes Tyler and Josh made their entrance, it felt like a valve exploded under the pressure of the anticipation.

Now, anyone who has seen the act already will know that their show is absolutely spectacular so, for the ‘Clancy Tour’, the band went bigger and more jaw-dropping than ever. Opening with a huge rendition of “Overcompensate”, what followed was a simply sensational display from the band. Pyro, confetti, audience walks, Twenty One Pilots pulled out all the stops to make sure this was an unforgettable night.

With the entire room becoming their stage, there were numerous walks out into the crowd as Tyler performed “Holding Onto You” with the fans while an incredible rendition of “Trees” brought the night to a close with both Tyler and Josh taking drums out over the crowd to perform the hit track to a backdrop of confetti.

An unforgettable night, “Ride” saw the band joined by a young fan while “Car Radio” saw Tyler disappear from the stage only to appear moments later in the middle of the arena and these are just some of the highlights of a stunning performance which had everything you could want from a Twenty One Pilots show.

Watching the way the pair interact with their fans and the connection the fans have with the pair, it feels like this is more than just a fan/band situation. This is a movement and one that shows no signs of slowing down as it continues to take over the world stage by stage, city by city.
