Thirteen Bands You Need to See at… Bearded Theory Festival 2025

With punk icons, legendary acts and a host of up-and-coming bands making a noise across 5 days of celebration at Catton Park – we’ve compiled a list of the acts we think are must-sees at this years Bearded Theory Festival.

1. Iggy Pop

A rare chance to witness a true rock legend in his element. The ‘Godfather of Punk’ is renowned for his electrifying stage presence and raw energy, captivating audiences with classics like “Lust for Life” and “The Passenger.” His performance promises to be a highlight of the festival, offering both longtime fans and newcomers an unforgettable experience.

2. Nova Twins

Catch one of the most exciting and original acts in modern rock. With their explosive mix of punk, grime, and heavy riffs, the duo of Amy Love and Georgia South, bring fierce energy and fearless creativity to the stage. Their live shows are electric, full of raw emotion and pure joy – perfect for a festival atmosphere. Unmissable.

3. The Vaselines

Loved by Kurt Cobain, so much so that Nirvana recorded 3 of their tracks – “Molly’s Lips,” “Son of a Gun” and “Jesus Don’t Want Me for a Sunbeam,” ensuring the Glasgow band were never to be forgotten.

4. Yard Act

Clever lyrics, infectious grooves, a bit of social commentary and a lot of dry Northern humour, Leeds’ Yard Act are one of the finest bands around. Blending multiple musical genres with sharp storytelling lyrics and oodles of charisma they’re one of the most exciting bands to come out of the UK in recent years.

5. The None

If you’re into music that’s loud, intense, and uncompromising. This fresh UK band brings a fierce, boundary-pushing sound that blends punk energy with a raw, experimental edge. Their live shows are full of urgency and passion, driven by a tight-knit lineup of musicians who play with both power and purpose. It’s music with something to say, delivered with total conviction.

6. Anoise

Their Instagram states ‘Anoise’s goal if there is one, is to make you dance, laugh and feel a lil wobbly’ – and by the sounds of it that is a wholly achievable outcome if you see their show. With a penchant for costumes and loud noises – whether you like them or not you’re in for an unforgettable experience.

7. Terrorvision

Certified as the most fun you can have bouncing around a field, Terrorvision are riding high again after the release of their latest album We Are Not Robots. With massive singalongs and fun times guaranteed, this is the Saturday party you don’t want to miss. It’s your chance to dance – even if your knees don’t thank you for it later in the day.

8. Osaka Ramones

Hey Ho! This will be one of two chances you get to see the wonderful Shonen Knife playing as they take to the stage under this pseudonym to play a set of Ramones covers. For an electrifying take on a classic sound, check them out. Let’s Go!

9. The Selecter

True pioneers of ska and Two-Tone. Fronted by the iconic Pauline Black, the band delivers high-energy performances that blend infectious rhythms with sharp social commentary. Their sets are known for igniting dance floors and uniting audiences across generations.

10. Alt Blk Era

Bold energy and a genre-blending sound that’s as powerful as it is unique. The sisters fuse rock, electronic, and hip-hop influences into a dynamic and emotionally charged performance – with a fearless stage presence and lyrics that speak to strength, identity, and defiance. They’re shaking up the scene and should be seen.

11. Du Blonde

Grunge, glam, and punk influences, authenticity and vulnerability, what more do you want? Their show will be an emotional rollercoaster—equal parts explosive and intimate. This will be a set full of unfiltered emotion, driving energy, and unapologetic individuality. Count us in!

12. Throwing Muses

Throwing Muses are a compelling act. Led by the inimitable Kristin Hersh, their sound blends jagged melodies with poetic intensity, offering a performance that’s both unpredictable and deeply personal. This is your chance to see one of alternative rock’s most original voices in a truly atmospheric setting.

13. The Sisters of Mercy

Dark, atmospheric rock with a powerful stage presence, an iconic blend of gothic tones, driving rhythms, and commanding vocals that creates an intense live experience. Hypnotic and electrifying. With decades of cult status and a reputation for unforgettable performances their Friday night show offers a darker alternative to that of Paul Heaton on the main stage.
