Signal Bleach – ‘Worthless Milk’ [Album Review]
Emotionally demanding, austere, and breathtakingly primal, Signal Bleach’s ‘Worthless Milk’ is a crucible of pressure and abrasion.
Los Angeles-based industrial/punk/alt-rap outfit Signal Bleach releases their debut album, Worthless Milk, exploring a vicious approach to music, akin to unchaining a sonic monster. Born out of the prevalent paranoia engendered by the disinformation of the 21st Century, Worthless Milk reveals consummate aggression.
Formed in 2021, Signal Bleach consists of Andrew Hall (vocals, synths, production), Casey Garcia (drums, samples, synth production), and David Tege (bass).
Of the 10 tracks on Worthless Milk, entry points include “Micropenis Plastic,” featuring dark, heavy industrial rock textures accented by luminous, chiming tones. Hall’s snarling vocals imbue the lyrics with ominous indignation.
“Habitual” conjures up suggestions of Korn blended with NIN and Slipknot, or perhaps Conan gone alternative rap. There’s a black, doom-like dread to the harmonics, riding atop thick, crunching percussion.
Suffused by a rumbling threnodic texture, “Post-Mate ULTRA + (BOGO Edition)” rattles and shakes with venomous industrial rock tangs. “Fugue State” merges dense industrial layers with a thumping trap-like beat as Hall’s grimacing vocals give the lyrics a feeling of ferocious disintegration.

A personal favorite because of its ebbing and rising resonance, “Glitch Piss” is highlighted by viscous groaning textures and slamming, industrial percussion, stark and mechanical. Hall’s growling voice reaches deep inside the murkier corners of anger and frustration, releasing the funereal energy lurking therein.
