James Bay Returns: Vancouver Stays “Up All Night” for Long-Awaited Show [Photos]

James Bay and his “Up All Night Tour” recently made it to Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom. After an absence of about nine years, the English singer and songwriter made his way back to Vancouver, and the line outside the venue was a statement that the local fans needed his tunes.

For this tour, Bay has Tennessee singer and producer Hunter Metts as the opening act. Metts started his set with his latest release, “Abilene,” and followed with “Paper Moon.”

Metts, a first-timer to Vancouver, had the crowd locked during his performance, which he closed with the song “Weathervane.”

James Bay came on stage, and the band played a short intro in complete darkness. Right after, they started their set with “Up All Night.” Since the first word, the fans did not let Bay sing any of the songs by himself.

After performing “Just For Tonight,” Bay expressed how happy he was to be back in Vancouver after so many years that he didn’t even remember, but some fans reminded him that it had been nine long years.

Mid-set, he performed his most popular song, “Let It Go,” and you could feel the energy from the crowd in the air. Bay closed his set with “Wanderlust” and “Best Fake Smile.”

After leaving the stage and a load of screams from the crowd, James returned to the stage and performed “Hope” by himself just with a guitar. The band came back out to perform “Dog Fight” and then they closed with Bay’s second most popular hit, “Hold Back The River.”
