Ali J. Hassan – “Into the Winds” [Song Review]

Singer-songwriter, musician, and engineer Ali J. Hassan releases his debut single, “Into the Winds,” a song about trusting in the universe.

Hassan explains, “The line, ‘You’re where you’re supposed to be’ is an affirmation that, for good or bad, you’re on the right path. It’s hard to see the bigger picture when life is throwing hard times, but those hard times can be lessons and opportunities if you let them.”

Before going solo, Hassan played bass and rhythm guitar with bands like Anarchaos, Wildstreet, and Awaken The Shadow, touring/playing at festivals like Vans Warped Tour, Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, Rocklahoma, and Bud Light’s Rock Fest.

As a recording engineer, he’s worked with producers Eddie Kramer, Neil Dorfsman, Ted Hutt, Shep Goodman, Aaron Accetta, and artists like Alicia Keys, Sebastian Bach, John Legend, The Bouncing Souls, Escape The Fate, Silvertomb, and The Loved Ones.

In addition, Hassan has done FOH/Monitors/Tech for artists like Jon Batiste, Benson Boone, Motionless In White, Gemini Syndrome, Dave Hause, Valerie June, Social Distortion, Jon Bon Jovi, Sting, Elton John, Pharell Williams, Bruno Mars, and Paramore.

Opening on a dreamy piano, “Into the Winds” ramps up to a roots rock melody full of potent guitars and swirling keyboards. Riding over a pushing rhythm full of optimistic energy, Hassan’s vocals reveal slight hints of SoCal country-rock twang, infusing the lyrics with appealing flavors.

With its packed, resonant layering, “Into the Winds” offers an inspirational, reassuring perspective on the ups and downs of life.
