Platinum-selling country artist Aaron Goodvin opens a powerful new chapter in his life and career with the deeply personal new single “Drinkin’ Hand,” available for streaming/download today. The song, which chronicles his path to sobriety, is the title track of his upcoming EP, scheduled for release June 20th.

Now three years sober, Goodvin wrote the song with Mary Kutter and Andrew Capra about a year into his recovery. “Drinkin’ Hand” captures the raw, day-to-day reality of learning to live without alcohol.

Goodvin states:

“I was still very deep in the process of what that all means and finding a new way to live. It’s been the most crazy, tough, and amazing journey.”

Rather than dressing up the lyrics, the trio kept the message honest and direct, allowing the emotion to take centre stage. Capra produced the track live in the room during the writing session, capturing its immediacy and heart in real time. Goodvin hopes the track resonates with anyone on a similar journey.

Goodvin shares:

“Sobriety is spilling over into my artistry because that’s who I am and that’s what I’m going through and that’s what being an artist is supposed to be. I hope the lyrics ring true with people in recovery, or anyone who loves someone who is.”
