Sarina Premieres Her “Toast to the Broken” Music Video
Tokyo pop-punk artist Sarina is back at it again with the premiere of the music video for her latest anthem “Toast to the Broken.”
If you are feeling lost in the shuffle, then you have found an understanding voice in Sarina. The Japanese singer-songwriter (check out our Track-by-Track rundown of her last EP Break Out!!) is pleased to debut the accompanying music video to her latest single “Toast to the Broken.”
One of the pitfalls of our digital age is the culture it creates, one where it’s easy to get disregarded amongst the latest trends, vibes, and “viral” moments. “Toast to the Broken” was written as an anthem for all of the people who feel swallowed up or disregarded in our sometimes disheartening society and culture. There’s a lot of pressure on young people to conform these days. But Sarina wants you to know that you don’t have to conform.
Elaborating on the song’s point of view, Sarina tells us:
“‘Toast to the Broken’ is an anthem song for all the lost spirits, particularly among my generation. All of us 20-somethings are trying to figure out how to deal with everything all the time. Sometimes, we don’t cope in the healthiest ways of ways, but the fact is we’re young, and we haven’t developed our prefrontal cortex yet; we need to make these mistakes to learn. I am so proud of the final result, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it. And also to develop my prefrontal cortex.”
You’ll find “Toast to the Broken” on Sarina’s upcoming EP. Raw and uninhibited, she is not afraid to speak her mind and wear her heart on her sleeve. She worked closely with producer Kevin Thrasher in the recording of both the song and the EP. Thrasher is, of course, the former guitarist of Escape the Fate. He has worked with superstar musicians like Machine Gun Kelly, Panic! At The Disco, Blink-182, and Avril Lavigne.
Born in Hawaii to a Lebanese mother and Japanese father, Sarina was raised in Tokyo. As a child, she was exposed to many different cultures and influences, which have shaped her as a musician. Her music focuses on themes of mental health and personal struggle, which is intertwined with the emotional depth of the music. She is also an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, guitar, ukulele, and more.
Far from just another flash in the pan, Sarina is an artist who is about to become a fixture of the Western pop-punk and alternative scenes.
