Remi Wolf Sells Out Indianapolis’ Old National Centre [Photos]

Remi Wolf’s sold-out show at Indianapolis’ Old National Centre during her “Big Ideas Tour” felt like a full-fledged celebration. It was great, a little chaotic, odd, and emotional. The audience was so enthusiastic and packed for the show that I can’t remember ever seeing it at any of the other performances I’ve seen here. Since I knew of Remi beforehand and have a lot of friends who adore her, I was excited to see what the evening would bring.

Remi Wolf has not wavered in her status as pop’s most daring and unconventional risk-taker. Since the release of her highly regarded 2021 full-length debut, Juno, the world has been unable to turn away from the colorful, daring, and irreverent star. In addition to having top billing at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands, she has amassed over two billion streams worldwide and served as an opening act for Olivia Rodrigo, Lorde, and Paramore. She has worked with artists such as Dominic Fike, Sylvan Esso, Beck, Nile Rodgers, and others.

As soon as Remi appeared on stage after emerging from the wall of fog, the audience was ecstatic. More than just an introduction, her entrance made it very evident that this would be unlike any other sight you had ever witnessed. Moreover, it was not. Not even close. As soon as Wolf started with the Big Ideas song “Toro,” the sold-out venue was rocking to her trademark blend of funk-pop, indie soul, and hyper-saturated oddity.

The more insane moments came fast and loud. A psychedelic dance extravaganza, “Cinderella” was gritty and glittering. “Sexy Villain” followed the jazzy detour, including a melancholic groove and sultry vocal sections. Naturally, “Soup,” a smash song from the new album, was played as the encore. All appeared to remain in astonishment as the final notes were played and the lights came up. Nobody seems prepared to go from Remi Wolf’s delightfully bizarre little universe.
