Prabir Releases New Live Single “Today”
Virginia-based musician Prabir, known for mixing eclectic sounds with Western rock, kicks off 2025 with his newest release, “Today (Live).” Recorded live at the Any Folk RVA session in Richmond, VA, the track features a raw acoustic feel that showcases Prabir’s performance prowess and tastefully vintage vocal approach—reminiscent of the Woodstock era of music.
“Today” begins with guitar improvisation alongside the ancient Bhimpalasi Raag, a traditional Indian melody, then shifts into a more traditional Western-style composition. The lyrics, short and meaningful, reflect on how quickly time passes. “Today is finally here and today it’s finally clear that today is finally here, but you know it won’t last.”

The song is a bit of a hybrid, blending two worlds—classical Indian raag and modern rock—creating a unique sound that gives a nod to its roots. In his words, “This is a fusion of classical Indian raag and western rock. Raag and roll, one may say.” Prabir’s love for his Indian heritage shines through, but his Beatles-inspired melodies make it relatable for any listener to enjoy. This release marks a turning point in Prabir’s career, moving towards a more “world music” approach rather than just rock.
“Today” is a song that makes you think about the present moment. With his upcoming album and East Coast tour, Prabir continues to keep pushing boundaries and evolving his music.
