Mumford & Sons celebrated the release of their new album ‘RUSHMERE’ at New York’s Brooklyn Paramount on March 26th, 2025.
British folk rockers Mumford & Sons celebrated the release of their latest record RUSHMERE with the aptly-titled “Tour Before The Tour,” an eleven-stop run of shows at intimate venues across just a handful of cities in North America and Europe. New York’s Brooklyn Paramount was treated to the finale on Wednesday, March 26th.
Though the venue’s 2,700 capacity is a far cry from the venues the band usually sells out – think Madison Square Garden – the energy and anticipation from fans were all the same. Having sold out in mere minutes, those lucky enough to snag tickets packed the venue to the very brim. With no opener, the band hit the stage right at 9 pm to thunderous cheers, opening with the title track “Rushmere” before launching into a set that paid tribute to all the eras of their illustrious career.
Comprised of singer Marcus Mumford, bassist Ted Dwane, and keyboardist Ben Lovett, the band’s discography stretches nearly two decades and pushes the boundaries of genre. From 2012’s Americana-infused Babel, to the more focused alternative rock sound of 2015’s Wilder Mind and indie folk of 2018’s Delta, the band has been credited by many for the introduction of banjo, fiddle, and other country elements into mainstream pop rock. Having broken into the public eye in the early 2010s with “Little Lion Man,” the band has remained beloved by fans as varied as the style of their music. The excitement and buzz surrounding the release of RUSHMERE serves as a true testament to the devotion of their fans.
The Brooklyn concert treated fans to a tasting of songs from all of their records, including all the hits (“Little Lion Man,” “I Will Wait,” “The Cave”) as well as more hidden gems (“Lover of the Light,” “Ghosts That We Knew,” “Awake My Soul”), alongside a healthy smattering of tracks from RUSHMERE (“Caroline,” “Malibu,” “Where It Belongs”).
Frontman Marcus Mumford had the audience in the palm of his hand the entire evening, proving his ability to captivate an audience regardless of the size. In a daring move, the band performed the songs “Timshel” and “Ditmas” without their backing band and entirely unplugged, relying on the grace of their fans to maintain absolute silence. The hush that fell upon the packed venue made for a particularly magical experience that would be difficult to recreate in a bigger space and left fans awestruck.
In the days following the tour’s culmination and the release of RUSHMERE, Mumford & Sons announced a full-length North American tour this coming summer and fall. Fans will no doubt show up in droves for “The Tour” just as they did for “The Tour Before The Tour,” and all will be treated to a special evening of music.
