Michael Gilas – “Can’t Hide Beautiful” [Song Review]
A live-wire song, “Can’t Hide Beautiful” swims in irresistible, heady harmonic surfaces set off by the beguiling vocals of Michael Gilas.

San Diego-based singer-songwriter Michael Gilas releases his new single/music video, “Can’t Hide Beautiful,” which follows on the heels of his previous single, “Working With The Rain,” which debuted at #21 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, later rising to #13.
“Can’t Hide Beautiful” was co-written by Gilas with songwriters Bill DiLuigi and Allan Phillips, who also co-produced the track. The song presages Gilas’ upcoming debut album, 231 Kensington Road, the address of the house on Long Island where Gilas grew up.
Along with the adult contemporary version of “Can’t Hide Beautiful,” the single features a pop remix produced by Henk Pool and Michael Garvin, who wrote and produced Jennifer Lopez’s hit song, “Waiting for Tonight.” Both versions will be accompanied by music videos directed by producer Ben Silverman.
Formerly a successful entrepreneur, Gilas used music to pull him out of a dark place engendered after suffering a broken neck while horseback riding.
Highlighted by Gilas’ rich tenor, “Can’t Hide Beautiful” rolls out on a delicious chopstick piano that flows into an upbeat pop-rock melody accented by brass textures and dazzling harmonies suffused with voluptuous echoes. There’s a luscious Robert Palmer essence to the song, imbuing it with a tasty, seductive, swaying motion.
