Nashville-based country-rock artist Levi Foster unveils his new song, “She’s In Richmond,” the first single from his upcoming album, We Made Fire, slated for release in the Fall of 2025.
Talking about “She’s In Richmond,” Foster says, “I was living in my van soon after moving to Nashville when I came up with the hook, ‘I’m in love and she’s in Richmond.’ The song is straight down the middle, with some ’90s rock influence along with the vibe of some ’70s groove bands.”
The forthcoming We Made Fire was produced at Cartoon Moon Recording by Ken Coomer, who was an original founding member of Wilco, and a triple Grammy-nominated drummer and producer.
Foster has shared the stage with artists such as Ashley McBride, Trace Adkins, John Conlee, Lorrie Morgan, Pam Tillis, Vince Gill, The Time Jumpers, and Oliver Anthony. Just over a year ago, Foster signed a publishing deal with Banner Music and Middleground Music.
A song narrating the tale of a musician on the road trying to save up the money to buy an engagement ring, “She’s In Richmond” rolls out on a mid-tempo rhythm topped by delicious country-rock guitars dripping with gleaming textures.
For some reason, Foster’s drawling vocals summon up suggestions of Georgie Strait, laidback yet rich and articulate. Foster’s phrasing and tonal inflections imbue the lyrics with quixotic passion and utter adoration for the woman in Richmond.
“Oh, I tell you what man / When I’m holding her hand / It’s better than being a rich man.”
