After a momentum-building year in 2024, highlighted by the release of their debut EP disparity, Vancouver, BC-based shoegaze outfit La Lune has carried that energy into 2025.

Following the March release of quiet considerations, the band now returns with “expressionless,” their latest single and video, which arrives alongside the official announcement of their forthcoming EP, everything is an eternal circle, and it repeats and repeats.

On “expressionless,” La Lune delivers one of their most emotionally charged tracks to date. Built on a foundation of the band’s signature blown-out guitars and pounding drums, the song marks a shift in their sonic palette, with Ethan Rebalkin’s vocals brought more prominently to the forefront. That heightened presence gives added immediacy to the song’s central theme: the disorienting ebb and flow of detachment. Together with Olivia-Grace Wells, Rebalkin draws from personal experiences with Depersonalization/Derealization Disorder, approaching the topic with a sense of honesty that is both restrained and affecting. Rather than laying everything bare, expressionless allows space for interpretation—looping motifs and dense sonic layering echo the obsessive spirals that inspired it, while brief moments of clarity emerge like flashes through the fog.
