Heist or Hit & Music Evermore Launch Charity Partnership

Independent record label Heist or Hit today launches a brand new charity partnership with Manchester educational organization Music Evermore.

Working throughout the Manchester area, Music Evermore provides children and young people with free and subsidized music tuition, workshops, 1-2-1 instrument tuition, school music classes and holiday clubs that are inclusive to all children and young people, with varying diversity to give every child and young person the opportunity to learn music, no matter what their background.

Detailing their partnership, Heist or Hit’s Mick Scholefield, Martin Colclough, and Pat Fogarty explained:

“It’s an honour to be involved in helping Music Evermore. As a label made up of former artists, we know how important access is. Access to instruments, access to tuition, access to spaces that allow young people to be creative and make noise. Increasingly, such access sits behind a hypothetical paywall, unlocked by the few who can afford to be artistic. But expression shouldn’t be a privilege. Not only does the work of the charity give back to the community of Manchester, but it also helps build the artists of tomorrow. We feel passionately about the work of the Music Venue Trust, and music education represents a vital link in that grassroots pipeline.”

Commenting on the launch, Music Evermore director Chris Maddon revealed:

“At Music Evermore, we’re passionate about giving children and young people the chance to experience the joy of music, regardless of their background. Our sessions provide children who might not usually have the opportunity to pick up an instrument due to socio-economic reasons with a safe and inspiring space to create, collaborate, and grow in confidence. Heist or Hit’s support is helping us reach up to 300 young people per week across Manchester, giving them the tools and opportunities to develop their musical skills and discover their creative potential.”

In addition to their newest partnership in the local community, Heist or Hit also supports the Friends of Her’s charity foundation, a fund created in loving memory of Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading, overseen by their families and friends. The fund’s work takes place in Liverpool, where Ste and Audun met, lived, and created Her’s (who were signed to the laebl), providing support to those affected by homelessness in the city centre, which was an issue of importance to both Ste and Audun.

Discussing the fund itself, Heist or Hit stated:

“The Friends of Her’s fund holds a cherished place in the label’s heart & the work they’re doing with Liverpool’s homeless community is positive, forward-thinking and vital. Teaching transferable creative skills that can be used as a vehicle for self-expression, connection, and inclusion represents not only a compassionate approach but a way to plug into and aid other charities tackling the issue. Enduring the warmth, kindness and connection Stephen and Audun brought to the world is of the utmost importance to everyone that knew them and we are no exception to that.”
