East Denistone Grapples with Time & Regrets on Immersive Debut ‘The Sum of Small Tidings’
Indie artist Denistone has released his debut album ‘The Sum of Small Tidings,’ which he has spent the last few years crafting.

Rising alternative rock artist East Denistone is somebody who has been busy establishing his thoughtfully crafted and memorable sound over the last few years, already boasting a catalogue of releases that are packed full of emotional resonance and charm, and his brand new album The Sum of Small Tidings provides the most cohesive and fully-formed showcase of his appeal to date.
Having always struggled to find a proper outlet for his emotions, Marcus, the driving force behind East Denistone, initially turned to songwriting as a means of exploring his vulnerability. Now, he bares his soul on the new collection of tracks, delving into feelings of regret and impermanence, coming to terms with his own mortality and the weight of the feeling that his best years may already be behind him.
Comments Marcus:
“Ever since starting the project, the number one, major goal was to put together an album.”
“Not really just any album, but my platonic ideal of an album that captures and enthrals listeners for the duration of its runtime and stokes their imagination as it glides from movement to movement. It’s been two years in the making – and there were so many instances where I’ve wanted to give up or release something that felt slightly mediocre because it was getting quite difficult. But I’m so happy with how it turned out – it really is something I’m proud of.”
A track that does a great job of encapsulating these feelings of regret and dwelling on the past is lead single “I Wish I Was Over You,” manifesting in the form of a stirring emotional ballad that feels as heartbreaking as it is reflective. This emotional depth is something that is commonplace throughout the album, with the writing providing the artist with a sense of catharsis and an outlet to cope with life’s pressures. The single release will be supported by a music video.
The feeling of replaying scenarios and situations in your head is something that many can relate to, constantly weary of what might come next and what could have been done differently, and this is a sensation that is captured powerfully through the track and throughout the album.
Marcus adds:
“It’s funny, because there’s an irony that my main regret is that I wished I had released it sooner, but the album is something I only could’ve made at this specific point of time in my life. Any earlier, and I wouldn’t have been ready. It’s an amalgamation of my thoughts and feelings thus far, and all of the lessons, both big and small, I’ve picked up along the way.”
