Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson is the author of a number of books aimed at furthering an understanding of space and the universe, including his most recent book, Starry Messenger: Cosmic Perspectives on Civilization. He also maintains a popular social media presence, through which he engages with millions of followers on a variety of topics. His podcast, StarTalk, has a wide following and has been on air since 2009.
Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Tyson is one of the world’s leading astrophysicists, having earned a BA in Physics from Harvard and a PhD in Astrophysics from Columbia University. He has made significant contributions to the field, serving on multiple presidential commissions aimed at shaping the future of space exploration and the aerospace industry. As the first Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History, Tyson combines his scientific expertise with a passion for public education, engaging audiences worldwide through his writing and media appearances.
An accomplished author, Tyson has penned numerous bestselling books, including Astrophysics for People in a Hurry and Accessory to War, and has served as the on-camera host for the acclaimed series Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey and its sequel, Cosmos: Possible Worlds. His work has garnered multiple awards, including four Emmy Awards and the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal. He lives in New York City with his wife, a former IT project manager.
