Baileigh Jane Premieres Love-Filled Single “Nonissue”
Dreampop singer-songwriter Baileigh Jane pays tribute to the love in their life with the premiere of their debut single “Nonissue.”
Sometimes, there’s no better way than short and sweet (heavy emphasis on the “sweet”), and that’s how Baileigh Jane has done it with their new single “Nonissue.” It only takes the young singer-songwriter 104 seconds to pack in everything they want to say about the love in their life. Despite its superb production and refined qualities, this is remarkably Jane’s proper debut single.
It’s a feel-good, dreampop-inspired song with themes of love, self-acceptance, and the beauty of being embraced for who you are. With this, only Jane’s debut single, it’s also remarkable how comfortable they feel opening their heart up and bearing their soul. It provides a small glimpse into their current relationship with their life partner, who was the inspiration for this song.
Elaborating on the song and its writing process, Baileigh Jane tells us:
“‘Nonissue’ is a love song about being embraced for who you are. More specifically, it’s about my partner of five years (we’re currently engaged)! I wanted to make a laid-back track with this song full of endearing lyrics. And my goal was to emphasize themes of companionship as much as romance. If you suspect my love language is ‘quality time’ after hearing this song, you’d be right!
“When I wrote ‘nonissue,’ I wanted to write a feel-good song that would make my partner smile while hearing it. The lyrics are meant to be endearing and supportive. As much as the song is about my partner, it’s also about me. The peace I feel when I’m being accepted. Another layer of acceptance in our relationship comes with me medically transitioning and my partner being extremely supportive throughout that process. It’s one part ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ and another part ‘thank you for being around while I work on myself.’”
As an artist and a creative, Jane has become very active within their local arts scene. Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Jane now resides in Brooklyn, New York. They studied music in college, focusing on jazz guitar, which led to a career as a music teacher for about six years. They taught several different instruments and remain a passionate multi-instrumentalist. But now, Jane’s career has become much more multifaceted, both as a songwriter and a businessperson. They operate their own label, Conduit Media, and also are involved in a queer cannabis social club called Dank Dykes. Jane also books and hosts queer music showcases throughout the New York City area under Conduit Media.
Jane is a person who never stops being creative. You can judge that from their interests and their music. The future is filled with possibility, and Jane is looking forward to embracing it all as it comes to them.
