Touch the Clouds Release New Self-Titled Album
Touch the Clouds, a gang of Detroit rockers, just kicked off 2025 with their new self-titled LP Touch the Clouds. This 15-song album blends together alt-rock hooks and a ‘90s emo feel—perfect for anyone who digs gritty, meaningful tunes.
The album opens with “Highs and Lows,” a track with catchy guitar riffs and big vocals. The song sings “We’re gonna see some highs and lows” encouraging listeners to “Find peace in the valleys”. Joe Philips, who some fans may recognize as the singer of the Pokémon: Black & White theme, fronts the band with Darrin Hunt on guitar, Nikkie Margosian-Galindo on bass, and Brian Galindo on drums.
The four members go back to the inception of Touch the Clouds in the early ‘10s after their old band, Few and Far Between, took a break. They dropped a few singles and two EPs before they put together this full length album. For them, it’s all about Detroit—their home, their scene, their crew. “We just love playing together,” Nikkie says.
The band has been compared to Sunny Day Real Estate or early Foo Fighters and My Morning Jacket. Recorded in NYC, Ferndale, and Hamtramck, this album is a proud love letter to the Motor City, a place riddled with rich music history and Touch the Clouds is making their mark in that story.
