Naomi Jane – “Hang Up, Move On” [Song Review]
With “Hang Up, Move On,” Naomi Jane exhibits her musical alchemy, melding an infectious, retro-flavored melody with contemporary brio.
Singer-songwriter, actor, and multi-instrumentalist Naomi Jane collaborates with PARKER and Nataan to present “Hang Up, Move On,” a song about a long-distance relationship that is disintegrating under its own weight.
Naomi Jane explains, “This song is about a love greater than the distance between two… it shows the challenges of committing to someone when they’re halfway across the country. It also informs that sometimes you have to hang up in order to move on… especially when you’re so far away from each other, mentally or physically.”
Merging Naomi Jane’s evocative vocals, Nataan’s state-of-the-art production, and PARKER’s surf-side rock edginess, “Hang Up, Move On” offers a memorable, innovative sound that’s dipped in old-school piquancy and highlighted by delicious nu-wave additives.
Opening on glossy, nipping tones, “Hang Up, Move On” flows into layers of vibrant, vintage pop topped by Jane’s deep, emotion-laced vocals, imbuing the lyrics with both down-to-earth pragmatism and lingering desire as turmoil clashes with love.
Jane’s nuanced voice mirrors her inner conflict as she declares she misses him, followed by advising him to abandon the relationship: “Hey Babe, just checking in to see how you are. I miss you… PARKER you need to stop calling me this is never gonna work just let it go…”
With “Hang Up, Move On,” the artists exhibit their musical alchemy, melding an infectious, retro-flavored melody with contemporary brio.
