Mynd Reader – “Simply Avanti” [Song Review]
At once inspirational and heartening, with “Simply Avanti,” Mynd Reader taps into visceral, honest, stirring emotions.

Following on the heels of their debut single, “Radio Warning,” Colorado-based alt-rock outfit Mynd Reader is back with their new single/music video, “Simply Avanti,” a song about tenacity, love, and pressing on. “Simply Avanti” foreshadows Mynd Reader’s upcoming debut album due out later this year.
Mynd Reader is led by Matt Schultz and Brian Sachs, the drummer for the band The Authority, managed by the renowned Bill Graham. Sachs has shared the stage with Dave Matthews, Phish, and Blues Traveler. After Graham’s passing, The Authority broke up.
Yet Sachs soldiered on, continuing to write new material and drumming. Sachs called on his friend and fellow musician Schultz, who has an innate gift for melding genres and creating engaging melodies.
Mixed by Grammy winner Michael Bauer, who has worked with Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, and The Rolling Stones, the accompanying video was produced and edited by XPRMNT, directed by Buck Ross with Ryan Goss and Carly Snyder, along with director of photography Jesse Borrell.
“Simply Avanti” rolls out on bluesy savors tinted with vague tangs of Gospel and SoCal country rock, i.e., soulful Southern rock. Sachs’ oh-so-evocative vocals drip with delicious world-weary raspiness, imbuing the lyrics with resolve, determination, and expectancy – “simply avanti” – let’s go, push forward! For “the sun is going to shine.”
At once inspirational and heartening, with “Simply Avanti,” Mynd Reader taps into visceral, honest, stirring emotions.
