Hunch Power Premiere Empowering Single & Music Video, “All I Do Is Survive”
Nottingham power trio Hunch Power premiere the music video for their fifth proper single release “All I Do Is Survive.”
As a small ensemble of musicians, Hunch Power packs a powerful punch. And we’re not just saying that because it works well with the band’s name. You’ll see what we mean in their brand new single “All I Do Is Survive,” their fifth proper single release. There is something about punk-leaning trios. They show that you don’t need five or six guys to meld together a heavy or a strong sound. As the song title might suggest, there is an element of force intertwined with its theme.
The song is a turning point for the Nottingham band, as it represents something of a new direction for them. Hunch Power is now a power trio, which makes the music sound more in your face and upfront. It’s more emotional and connects better with their audience. Anthemic and catchy, “All I Do Is Survive” poses the question: Is survival enough to feel alive? Or do we need our existence to be meaningful? These are heavy questions with a lot to consider.
With a more specific comment on the song, the band states:
“‘All I Do Is Survive’ is about the things that make us feel alive and what happens when they’re taken away from us. It’s a hero’s lament after losing their superpowers and kissing the ground, learning to live small, eating humble pie and gathering the strength to pick up the pieces, to start all over again.”
Hunch Power is very much a band of the moment. They sound like they firmly belong within today’s rock scene while also faithfully paying tribute to the legends of yesteryear like The Clash, Bruce Springsteen, Green Day, the Manic Street Preachers, and others. They released their debut single in 2022, which immediately garnered radio play both locally and in America on SiriusXM satellite radio. Hunch Power’s lyrics ponder modern issues and the impact these issues are having on our lives. They are songs for a dysfunctional time, which is evident with topics such as mental health, climate change, racism, war, work-life balance, and isolation born out of social media.
These are important topics for important times. It illustrates a fearlessness in Hunch Power to call out and draw attention to injustice and unfairness because, really, someone’s got to do it.
