Horseshoes Unveils Two New Singles in Anticipation of Upcoming Album
Salt Lake City band Horseshoes releases two new singles in anticipation of the upcoming alt-rock album ‘suite ossuary.’

Horseshoes, an emerging name in the indie music scene, has recently unveiled two new singles, “suite ossuary” and “drive,” both serving as teasers of their upcoming album, suite ossuary.
Showcasing the band’s evolving sound, the first single, “suite ossuary” delves into the complexities of love and intimacy, exploring the emotional landscape of a young couple navigating their feelings for one another. The song captures the inherent confusion that often accompanies relationships as they try to create a new shared world together while shedding their past selves. The narrator grapples with their sense of direction – becoming increasingly directionless and suggestible as the song develops – leading one to wonder how much control they have over their life once they fall in love. The evocative instrumentation complements these lyrical themes, creating a sonically rich vibe that resonates with listeners.
The second single, “drive,” takes a different approach, focusing on themes of power and self-identity. The song follows a couple on a road trip, with the narrator expressing a desire for assertiveness amidst their internal struggle for authenticity. The lyrics challenge the narrator’s understanding of themselves, asking profound questions such as “why you always trying so hard to be somebody else, why don’t you try to find something deeper in yourself?” The narrator responds that they “will try,” and the song ends without resolution but rather an open-ended question… leaving listeners contemplating their own experiences with control and vulnerability.
Both singles tease the tone-rich soundscapes anticipated on the forthcoming album, evoking rainy-day vibes and balancing moments of lethargy with uplifting sounds. The songwriting draws inspiration from notable artists such as Elliott Smith and The Microphones, while also incorporating elements of slowcore – reminiscent of bands like Duster. This artistic direction allows Horseshoes to emphasize the emotive qualities of their music, with sound taking precedence alongside lyrics in certain tracks, particularly in “suite ossuary.”
