Finger Eleven Deliver Dual Set in St Catharines, Ontario [Photos]
Finger Eleven delivered an intimate acoustic and electric show in St. Catharines at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.
Canadian group Finger Eleven has been working non-stop from 2024 to 2025. From releasing their new single “Adrenaline” to opening for Creed during their “Summer of ’99 Tour,” the band has done everything recently.
But they aren’t done yet. After closing their tour with Creed in Toronto, they announced their own headlining tour titled “An Evening With Finger Eleven.” This tour has an unusual format that features two sets, an acoustic and electric set, with no opener. Although it’s unusual, fans were excited, and the tour has sold well.
On night five of the tour, Finger Eleven stopped in a familiar city, St. Catharines, Ontario, at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. Locals of the area remember Finger Eleven as Rainbow Butt Monkeys, the original name the band used in the 1990s when they first appeared in St. Catharines. After the recent weather St. Catharines has endured, the night was a breath of fresh air. Downtown was cleared up, and people were ready for Finger Eleven to come to town.
The setlist was 20 songs of pure nostalgia for Canadians, starting off with a seven-song acoustic set featuring fan favourites like “Slow Chemical” and “I’ll Keep Your Memory Vague.” The acoustic set put a highlight on frontman Scott Anderson and his voice, one of the most recognizable in Canadian music and a voice that doesn’t deteriorate with age.
It was weird seeing Finger Eleven in such a relaxed state. Anyone who has seen them knows about Rick Jackett flying across the stage and spinning with his guitar, however, before too long it was time for the electric set.
The electric set was 13 songs long, and it was a trip through their discography. Kicking off with “First Time,” a song from their sophomore album released in 2000. This song set the mood for the remainder of the show and had the crowd electric and wanting more.
Going to a Finger Eleven show feels like going through a musical time machine, they make sure to include everything they’ve recorded with the Finger Eleven name, including their new single midway through the set. Some may wish for a couple Rainbow Butt Monkeys songs, however we did not get any this tour.
Song 19 marked the start of the encore, where they played a cover the band has played for a while, “Welcome To The Machine” by Pink Floyd. This song took over the cover of “Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2,” another iconic cover Finger Eleven would play at their shows up until 2023.
Song 20 was the final and most anticipated song of the night. Beginning with a cover of “That’s All” by Genesis, followed by the drum fill to their hit song “Paralyzer.” The song everyone in the crowd knew and is considered their biggest song to this day. This song has been the setlist ender for their Creed tour and remains the same for their current tour.
Finger Eleven isn’t done with their “Evening With Finger Eleven” tour just yet. After a small break, they will take the stage in Oakville and Milton on March 6th and 7th, respectively. It’s nice to see that the band is still out there along with an audience that remains very strong.
