Buckley’s Angel Releases New Single “WHY”
Buckley’s Angel, the band created by LA artist Michael Kelly, just released their first song of 2025 called “WHY.” Kelly, who’s played with projects like Ash Williams and Matt Caskitt & The Breaks, wrote this song about a long lasting friendship that ended abruptly with little explanation.
The song starts with Michael’s layered vocals singing “Why?” over and over, then kicks into gear with a driving upbeat rhythmic feel combined with a warm sonic texture. It’s a positive sounding song but it has a deeper, meaningful message. “This song is a break up song but not in the traditional way. It was a way of mourning an old friendship that shockingly and unfortunately fell to the wayside,” Kelly says. “People naturally grow apart but this one stung a little.”
“WHY” is all about that shock and sadness when someone you care about disappears without cause. Kelly calls the release a way of dealing with the hurt. And the track’s upbeat approach mixed with the heavy undertones, making it easy to listen to while still feeling authentic.
With the new release, Buckley’s Angel takes real life emotions and packages them in a vessel people can connect with and relate to. If you’re in the LA area, be on the lookout for Buckley’s Angel as they will be hitting the road and playing shows in the near future.
