Black Hole Zion has kicked off their 2025 with a cover of Anthrax’s “Only.” The band’s rendition is a loud, gritty guitar-led track featuring some nasty solo work as well as tastefully textured synths that create a sound the band describes as being “a mix of metal and cyberpunk”. The vocals, sung by the band’s founder Mark Benincosa, come packed with raw energy and power. It’s the first song they’ve released from their upcoming covers album, Wormhole Aliens.

That upcoming album is a collection of covers where the group mixes their individual influences together with elements of industrial, metal, pop, and electronic sounds to make music you can dance to—or bang your head to. Mark says, “We approached every song like it was a different version of us from some other timeline playing it.”

The initial release of “Only” has extra meaning too—it features the last synth parts from Stanley Benkovic, who passed away after recording. Mark calls it “bittersweet.” “I miss Stan, but I’m happy to put this version of the band out there for people to hear.”

Fans will enjoy Black Hole Zion’s take on “Only.” The song has been given a fresh new feel but still bears the iconic musical elements that Anthrax originally gave the track.
